'When I want a treat,' says Brighton resident Zoe Ball, 'I often head for Due South in Brighton. I have quoted them as being my favourite Brighton restaurant many times, but recently I have also discovered their oyster bar - Riddle and Finns. I find that if I'm flagging a bit, six of their delicious fresh oysters and a quick chat is a fantastic pick-me-up.' It is easy to see why she finds a visit so invigorating. Riddle and Finns is located in the Lanes, Brighton's most bustling and atmospheric area, and has an sophisticated, upbeat mood that hits you as soon as you arrive. The emphasis is really on the ingredients - fantastic fresh fish and seafood served impeccably. The white tiles and high marble bars may be utilitarian, but there is nothing workaday about their superb seafood platters - fantastical displays of lobster, crab, razor clams, langoustines and other seasonal shellfish, all grandly presented on mountains of seaweed and crushed ice. Riddle and Finns is soon to widen its repertoire by serving breakfasts - are oysters set to be the new porridge?
